Adventure Ocean, Royal Caribbean's stellar kids club, has a vast space on Allure of the Seas. It offers separate areas for Royal Babies and Tots (6 months to 2 years), Aquanauts (3 to 5 years), Explorers (6 to 8 years) and Voyagers (9 to 11 years) on Deck 14 forward. There are also dedicated spaces for arts and crafts, science experiments and parent-child playtime (for the youngest cruisers). Allure of the Seas' spa and fitness area on Deck 6 is impressive. It offers a full battery of added-cost spa treatments (massages, facials, IV treatments, cellulite reduction, acupuncture), salon and barber services (haircuts, manicures and pedicures) and a thermal suite. One of the ship's major hubs, the Royal Promenade is reminiscent of a shopping mall and runs nearly the length of Deck 5.

Because it's still waiting for a second major overhaul, it looks worn around the edges.

Allure of the Seas restaurants and bars
The 225,282-ton Allure of the Seas was the world's largest cruise ship -- for six years -- before other sister ships kept stealing the title; the latest being Wonder of the Seas debuting in 2022. The Allure of the Seas capacity is 5,492 passengers at double occupancy or 6,452 when every berth is full. The AquaTheater room (10330) itself was a very good size, never felt cramped for our family of 6, and the balcony was gigantic- probably bigger than the room itself! Probably our favorite memories were made just watching the nightly diving show in the Aquatheater, or even the Belly flop contest during the day.

As part of Royal Caribbean's never-ending quest to improve its products, the line has launched a brand-new drinks menu at the nautically themed Schooner Bar. Although the menu will roll out fleetwide, it debuted during my Allure of the Seas sailing. On Deck 15 aft, tweens and teens have their own areas, separate from the younger kids. The Living Room offers a chill lounge space for ages 12 to 17. It's supervised but less structured with a "come and go as you please" policy, whereas younger children must be signed in and out of Adventure Ocean by a parent or guardian.

On Allure of the Seas you’ll find interior staterooms, oceanview rooms, balcony cabins, and suites. In addition to the main pool deck is an adults-only Solarium for guests aged 16 and above. Inside the Solarium is one pool and four hot tubs, two of which cantilever over the side of Allure of the Seas. Padded lounge chairs and other comfortable seating are also available.
However, the onboard lunches in the Solarium Bistro and Windjammer were very bland and lacked variety in the meat options on some days. For example, one day virtually every meat option in the Solarium Bistro and Windjammer included pork. However, the MDR food seemed to be a little better than usual and Sorrento's Pizza was probably the best included option at lunch.
The sushi was some of the best I've ever had on land or off land. Even the ramen was some of the best ramen I've ever had and so were the dumplings. Chop's Grille had some of the best service outside of the MDR and also the best dessert onboard... My upcharge Maine lobster was perfectly prepared and the salads and soups were savory, particularly the mushroom soup and goat cheese salad. The steaks were a little inconsistent though and the sides were very disappointing apart from the gruyere tater tots. 150 Central Park's food was very forgettable for supposedly being the most fancy restaurant onboard.
Sabor Mexican restaurant
It had a huge focus on acrobatics, including an insanely impressive acro yoga performance. While all AquaTheater shows on Oasis Class ships are entertaining, I enjoyed OceanAria the most. Despite feeling completely stuffed after way too much guacamole, I made room for a mouthwatering dessert of cinnamon churros, banana and chocolate chimichanga, flan, and cafe con leche. On every other Oasis Class ship, the Diamond Lounge is tucked into a room on Deck 4 with no windows.

This 2.5 hour production is included in your cruise fare and is a highlight of the cruise for many passengers. Another classic bar on Allure of the Seas and other Oasis Class ships is the Rising Tide Bar. This bar travels up and down 3 stories from the Royal Promenade to Central Park, making for a unique drinking experience. The weekend calls for your best beach day at the award-winning island Perfect Day at CocoCay.
I was so spoiled and treated with 5 star level service by absolutely everybody, like I was waited on hand and foot. The dining and drinks were incredible overall and I must have gained ten pounds as a result, the specialty dining seemed even more high end than usual and top shelf liquors were everywhere. The solarium makes for the perfect relaxing experience onboard while the neighborhoods provide both quiet corners for the afternoon as well as evening thrills.
Cruise Critic is not a booking agent and does not charge any service fees to users of our site. Rates are in USD and valid for US and Canadian residents only. When you book with one of our partners, please be sure to check their site for a full disclosure of all applicable fees as required by the U.S. Regardless of my reasons, this is the best cruise ship I have ever been on by far even though it did not have any of the recent upgrades. The fantastic solarium made for an incredibly relaxing experience and the neighborhoods provided the perfect setting for feeling like I was living in a fantasy city. The always fantastic service I have experienced on cruise ships became absolutely impeccable with only 2300 passengers.
Personally, having these features missing does not make Allure of the Seas any less desirable to me. I rarely use the onboard waterslides or Ultimate Abyss, and while an escape room is fun, I can keep busy with other activities onboard. Plus, you can still find a zip line, sports court, 2 FlowRiders, Adventure Ocean programming, a carousel, and other kid-friendly activities on the ship. To find out more about what is happening onboard each day of the cruise, be sure to download the Royal Caribbean app and check the daily schedule. Making reservations to signature production shows is important, too, and it’s recommended that you do so as soon as you get onboard on embarkation day. One of the best entertainment features on Allure of the Seas is the full-length Broadway musical, Mamma Mia.
